What's New? " Our X PRIZE entry prototype is driving! It needs lots of work (see photo to right) but we now have a mule that moves under its own steam, which probably puts us ahead of most of our competition. [T, P] "We've made some improvements to our Dzus fastener page. What's a Dzus fastener? Guess you need to click the page to find out. [T, P] New last month " We've improved our adjustable control arms page, and have added control arm kits to the parts list. Also check out our preliminary PVC suspension simulator info on LocostUSA. [N] New recently " The first full-body fender parts have come out of the molds. Click here to go to the body design and construction log, you'll find photos on page 5. [N] [N[ = all

![]() ![]() This is MAX, which stands
for Mother's Automotive X PRIZE challenger. No, we're not done with
it. It needs a body, for one thing, if we're going to shoot for 100
miles per gallon. The engine is a turbocharged 1100cc Kubota diesel,
and and even sans streamlining MAX is surprisingly peppy.
We'd hoped to have a Whippet
prototype or two on the street in late '07, but out X
PRIZE project got so interesting it bumped the Whippet off the front
burner. We're also noodling away on a more conventional Locost
sports car kit with a Mazda Miata powerplant. Meanwhile, we build and
distribute a variety of Locost chassis components and fiberglass body
parts.
Please don't tease our web site. Just because I got
Dreamweaver doesn't make me a web designer.
